The God Who Sees You

John 5:1–18

There were crowds of sick people at Bethesda. People with needs, pain, and long histories of disappointment. Yet Jesus walked into a crowded place and locked eyes with one man. A man who had been overlooked for thirty-eight years. A man who had grown used to being passed by. A man who had watched others get help while he remained stuck.

Before Jesus healed him, before He asked a question, before He gave a command — He saw him.

This is the part that sticks out to me: Jesus didn’t choose the man because he had the most faith, the best attitude, or the strongest testimony. He chose him because He noticed him. He saw the years of waiting. He saw loneliness. He saw the disappointment. He saw the pattern of being left behind. He saw the story no one else cared to understand.

And He sees you the same way.

Sometimes the deepest pain isn’t the condition itself — it’s feeling unseen in it. Feeling like others move forward while you remain stuck. Feeling like your quiet struggles go unnoticed. Feeling like your endurance is invisible. Feeling like your efforts don’t matter.

But Jesus sees the things about you that others overlook:

· the battles you fight silently

· the strength you use daily just to keep going

· the moments you choose hope even when you feel tired

· The way you show up for others while carrying your own weight

· the long seasons where you’ve waited for change

Jesus didn’t ask the man, “Do you want to be healed?” because He doubted him. He asked because He wanted the man to hear that he was seen, known, and chosen for transformation.

The miracle began not with movement, but with being seen.

Today, let this truth settle into your spirit: You are not invisible to God. Your long seasons are not forgotten. Your quiet endurance is not overlooked. Your story is fully known.

Before He calls you to rise, before He invites you to walk, before He shifts your season — He sees you.

And sometimes, being seen is the first miracle.
