September Announcements

Upcoming Sermon Series: Jesus sees His churches. He knows them, loves them, and exhorts them to remain faithful. Join us for “Dear Church,” as we explore Jesus’ words to the seven churches in Revelation. Sermon series begins September 10.

September Memory Verse: Our September memory verse(s) are the Beatitudes. To help your kids learn them we will have a packet of coloring sheets that list each one. These can be picked up at child check-in. Here’s a song to help with memorization!

HyFi for Families: We are starting something NEW at The Bridge! On September 10 we will launch Hyfi – a new curriculum that is all about real connection and true belonging. You and your kids will connect with God and find belonging with one another as we engage with the Bible, share the gospel loud and clear, discover together, and have a ton of fun, when we meet together one Sunday evening a month. Register to attend the September HyFi or learn more on Church Center or HERE.

Youth Group: After a summer hiatus, Youth Group for middle and high school students resumes on Sunday, September 10 from 6-7:30.  We can’t wait to see you and to welcome our new 6th graders! For more info, see Mike Solomon.

Fall Rally: Students in grades 6-12 are invited to join us for the Fall Rally in Troy, IL on October 14, for a one day event full of worship, teaching and fun. To register, see Mike Solomon before 10/7.

Miles for Meso: On Saturday, September 23, the annual Miles for Meso 5K is held in Alton, IL to benefit patients and families impacted by mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases. Hundreds of runners race past the church on this day, and we love to be there to offer cups of cold water and to cheer them on. This is a great opportunity for families to serve with their kids. If you can help, please see Cathy Coffman. In addition, The Bridge has a booth set up at the event. If you would like to serve at the booth, please see Natalie Runyon.

Coffee Talk: Have you ever wished you could develop more meaningful friendships and move past the small talk? This women's group is for you! Inspired by IF:Table Questions, we meet once a month on Saturday mornings to discuss questions centered around a specific theme which grow progressively deeper. Bring your own drink and snack for this casual get together in the Adult Education Room at The Bridge on 9/30. You can register for this event in the Church Center app or HERE.

Baptisms: We love to celebrate baptisms at The Bridge and share in the joy of new life in Christ. On September 24 we will be holding a baptism service immediately following worship. If you'd like to take this step in your faith journey, see Pastor Steven or Pastor Jon.

As a church that is for our city, we want to encourage those who call The Bridge their home to check out and support local events and live missionally in our community.

September 7-10: Alton Expo @ Alton Amphitheater

With an ever expanding Children’s Ministry, we have a need for more hands on deck. If you’d like to serve once a month in Bridge Kids, or HyFi, or would be willing to provide childcare for Bible studies or Community Groups, please talk to Natalie Runyon.

Beholding the Glory: A journey of faith, the visual arts and culture. Every week, a new Bible lesson and topic will be explored, supported by film clips, paintings, literature, music, and poetry. Class is led by Dan Nickel on Sunday mornings at 9 AM.

Better- A Study of Hebrews: Through stories of Old Testament heroes and practices, the author of Hebrews demonstrates how the new covenant is superior to the old and how Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of every promise. Explore familiar verses in context of the entire Bible, learning how to place your hope and faith in Christ alone. This 10 week Bible study for women meets on Mondays from 9:30-11:30 am, beginning September 11. For more details or to register, go to https://thebridgealton.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/1852975

Union with Christ: In this lunch time study for women, we will unpack the doctrine of salvation as we study the believer’s union with Christ. In these brief, 45 minute sessions we will cover:

  • Why this doctrine transforms how we understand our salvation.

  • Common missteps we are prone to make when talking about salvation.

  • How the church throughout history has used this doctrine to hold all other  doctrines of salvation together.

  • Key New Testament passages that teach this doctrine.

  • The doctrines of redemption, adoption, and sanctification as we understand salvation through union with Christ.

Bring your lunch and join us from 11:45 am to 12:30 pm on Mondays, beginning September 11. Register HERE.

Men's Bible Study: Tuesday mornings from 7-8, the men of The Bridge meet to study and discuss the upcoming week's sermon text. Coffee and donuts are provided.

Community Groups:There are a variety of Community Groups that meet throughout the year. To find a Community Group that’s right for you, or to learn more about leading or hosting a group, see Pastor Jon.
